On Friday, our school proudly hosted the FA’s largest football session to date in collaboration with Barclays’ Made for the Game initiative. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for 23 Year 7 and Year 9 girls to engage with leading figures in football and sports journalism.

The session featured Rachael Yankey, former England Lioness, and Miriam Walker-Khan, Sky Sports journalist specialising in women’s football. They led an insightful discussion on the diverse career pathways available in sport and media, sharing their own experiences and highlighting influential role models.

Following the discussion, the students took part in a practical football session led by Rachael Yankey, where they developed key skills such as ball control and defensive techniques. The enthusiasm and engagement from the students made for a highly successful session.

The event was further enhanced by the presence of Ian Wright, Barclays ambassador and football icon, who provided inspiration and encouragement to the students, reinforcing the importance of perseverance and passion in sport.
