Twickenham School Celebrates Exceptional 2024 GCSE Results
Posted on: 23/08/2024Twickenham School is delighted to celebrate another year of outstanding GCSE results in 2024. This year, 22% of all students achieved grades 7-9—the highest possible grades—a remarkable achievement that reflects their dedication and hard work, as well as the unwavering support of our dedicated staff.
We are especially proud of our students’ performance in the core subjects, with an incredible 76% of students achieving a pass in both English and Maths, which is 11% above the national average—a true testament to the high expectations we set for all.
A special mention goes to Zaema Islam, who achieved an outstanding nine grade 9s in all her subjects. Her advice to the upcoming Year 11 cohort is: “Don’t panic, work hard, but don’t stress about the exams.” Joining her in this exceptional accomplishment is Cagan Arda, who also achieved grade 9s across the board. We also commend Hermione G and Robbie M, both of whom secured seven grade 9s, showcasing incredible academic excellence.
We are incredibly proud of all our students, but special recognition must be given to Yasmin A who exceeded her target grades by an astonishing 6 grades on average, and Aleksandra G, who surpassed her targets by an impressive 4 grades on average. Their achievements are nothing short of extraordinary.
Additionally, our Food Technology department celebrated a 100% pass rate at 4+, with 52% of students achieving grades 7-9. The Drama department continued its impressive performance, with 86% of students achieving 4+ grades and 35% securing grades 7-9. Standout performances were also seen in German, where 82% of students achieved 4+, and French, with an exceptional 91% 4+ pass rate. Our Science students excelled, with 67% of Physics students securing grades 7-9, along with 49% in Chemistry and 57% in Biology.
Our Head of Year 11, Ms Johnson, remarked: “Our entire community continues to take great pride in our students, and these results are a reflection of their unwavering commitment. Their hard work and dedication throughout the year are truly inspiring, and their results speak volumes about their efforts.”
Following this, Jonathon Lisseman, Headteacher, added: “This is an incredible achievement from all our young people, and we are so proud of their accomplishments. We are so happy to know they are all progressing onto their chosen next steps. None of this would be possible without the unwavering dedication of the amazing staff at Twickenham School and the support of the students' families. Congratulations, Class of 2024!”
Congratulations to all our students, parents, and staff for making this year’s results another resounding success!
